Malaga Fair

The Feria de Málaga 2024: A Festival of Culture, Tradition and Passion

From 17 to 24 August 2024, Málaga will transform into a vibrant party city during the annual Feria de Málaga. Deeply rooted in Andalusian culture, this festival offers visitors a week of music, dance, gastronomy and unforgettable moments. Whether you are a local or a visitor from outside the city, the Feria de Málaga is an event not to be missed.

The history

The origins of the Feria de Málaga date back to 1487, when the city was recaptured by the Catholic Kings. This historic event has been celebrated every year since then with a huge festival that has since grown into one of the largest and most vibrant festivals in Spain. The Feria also pays homage to Málaga’s patron saint, the Virgen de la Victoria, who plays a central role in the festivities.

Day and Night Festival from the 17th to 24th of August

The Feria de Málaga has two parts: the Feria de Día and the Feria de Noche, which take place every day from 17 to 24 August.

  • Feria de Día: During the day, the streets of the historic centre transform into a lively party. Locals and visitors mingle in an atmosphere of merriment, where music, dancing and the delicious smell of Andalusian tapas are everywhere. The city buzzes with energy with Sevillanas and Flamenco dancers, while local gastronomy abounds with delicacies such as jamón serrano, fried fish and gazpacho.
  • Feria de Noche: As the sun sets, the celebrations move to the Real de la Feria, just outside the city center. Here the party continues until the early hours of the morning, with numerous casetas offering music, dancing and traditional food. Each night offers a new chance to immerse yourself in the authentic Andalusian revelry.

Opening night on 16th of August

Although the Feria officially starts on 17 August, the evening of 16 August is a prelude not to be missed. This evening is dedicated to the Virgen de la Victoria, the patron saint of Málaga, and begins with an impressive procession through the city streets. The statue of the Virgen is carried to the accompaniment of religious chants and floral offerings, a deeply emotional moment for the people of Málaga.

After the procession, a spectacular fireworks show lights up the sky above the city, marking the transition to the festivities of the Feria de Noche. These fireworks herald the start of the week-long celebrations, with energy continuing until 24 August.
